[CIBC Assessment Day]

 CIBC Assessment Day

The last event of CIBC generation 9 is the assessment day, which is also the initial formal meeting of the club’s 10th generation members. This event was held on Sunday, 4th of June 2023, in Ghanty lecture hall. This event was arranged by our project chair Ms. Oeung Youiy and fellow team members under the guidance and supervision of our Management team and advisors. This event brings along all members of the club as well as potential candidates of the club’s new generation. There were approximately 60 participants who are just as excited as the members are in getting to learn and experience another new thing.

Purpose: The purpose of this event is to introduce our club and members to the potential candidates, answer questions, as well as test and scope out excellent candidates in order to make our decision on who will be joining us this new year.

Summary: The event starts at 8:30, although members arrive at 7:30 to get things done such as preparing the assessment papers, the games, case studies, as well as make seating arrangements for the game to be played later on. Before the arrival of all candidates, our Co-president, Ms. Buntha Daneth briefed us on our roles, and responsibilities as well as what should be expected and how to act well. At 8:30 candidates were allowed inside and took a seat in our hall, then we waited until 9:10 to officially start the event. It started with a lovely and vibrant speech from our Co-president on welcoming and introducing our club to the candidates as well as giving them a sense of what is about to come. Then we divided our candidates into groups, allowing them to introduce themselves to each other as well as to the monitoring members responsible for the group. They were asked to create a group chat and add monitoring members to get to connect with each other through social media as well as allow for a space to announce the specifics of the interview later on, and everyone played an emoji game to break the ice among each group for 20 minutes. After that a winner was announced, and we moved onto the case study, where every team was to come up with a business idea from a prompt of  “come up with a business idea, to be on a mountain where there are waterfalls but, we can’t come up with one related to agriculture”. The candidates were given 20 minutes to discuss the plan, come up with a poster and present it in 3 minutes. Each business idea really opens up our eyes on the creativity and cooperation of the candidates, as well as part of the “real” self of each person. After the presentation from every group, our Project Chair Ms. Oeung Youiy ended the first part of our assessment day with a closing remark, an announcement for lunch break and the time and schedule of the interview to be done starting from 1pm. Each candidate was given 15 minutes each for the interview. The day ended with the remaining members as well and the management team coming together to discuss the result and decide on the outstanding members to join us in the 10th generation.
