This field study was organized by 4 Team Leaders namely, Mr. Vanndy Sovanpanha, Ms. So Muyi, Mr. Liang Poly, Ms. Seng Soniza, and were supported by CIBC’s Management Team while also joined by 21 participants in total. Kirisu Farm is a first renowned farm in Cambodia that produces pure natural milk using high quality and modern agricultural practices as well as world-class hygienist standards. The farm is located at National Road No. 2, Aopheasang Village, Kandoeng Commune, Bati District, Takeo, Kingdom of Cambodia.
Purpose: this visit aims to have a firsthand look at Kirisu Farm’s work procedures and operation systems, manufacturing processes, marketing and management strategies, performance and the farm’s partnerships with other businesses.
Vision: Khmer Fresh Milk has a long-term vision of bringing to the Cambodian market pure natural milk produced using contemporary farming techniques, as well as food preparation and processing under world-class hygienic standards. Our 100% pure dairy products with the distinct taste, finest quality, and richest nutrients for your beloved family are easy to find as the products are proudly manufactured in Cambodia.
Farm : it’s a 300-hectare processing plant with all facilities needed. The farm is divided into 4 main places such as, the operating facility, the office, the Diary, and the crop field. They operate the most modern and high-tech dairy farm and processing plant in Cambodia, build to the highest international standards in order to ensure the happiest environment for the cows as well as to assure the top quality of the milk.
Cows: 550 purebred Holstein Heifers cows had been imported from Australia. Holstein cows are regarded as the ‘creme de la creme’ of dairy production all over the world. In addition, they also have a veterinarian on call 24 hours to look after them.
Crops: Kirisu farm has a 63 hectare field to plant their own crop for the cows. They have their own specific menu for the cows as well as plenty of good grass to feed them as well. The grasses that the farm uses are Stylo, Megathyrsus maximus and so on. After harvesting these crops, they turn into dried grass or pickled grass (ផ្អកស្មៅ) to feed the cow.
Products: Currently, Kirisu Farm's main products are milk and yogurt. However, milk is classified into three groups based on the amount of fat it contains. They have 3% dairy people who intend to save calories, and 5% Barista milk, which is primarily used in coffee shops or to make beverages such as milk tea and so on.
Procedures: the cows are milked three times on daily. The first time is in the morning around 4 a.m., the second time is at 12:45 p.m in the afternoon., and the third time is at 7 p.m in the evening. The cows are fed before the milking process begins, after that they take turns going into shower facilities and stay there for 45 minutes to cool their body off. Subsequently, they will enter the milking parlor once they finish. From beginning to end, the procedure is purely hands-free, which means the milk is never touched or interacted with by human hands, enabling a totally hygienic and modern approach of milk processing. Following the milk, it is now stored in a tank in order to bring it to the operating facilities to be pasteurized and further processed, ensuring that the milk is safe and ready for consumption.
Logistic: Following the placement of milk and yogurt in cartons or bottles. It will be transferred directly very fast and quickly to the partners' companies like mart, store, supermarket and coffee shops. The process of milking the cows takes only 24h or 1 day, which explains why Kirisu’s milk expiration date is longer and their milk is creamier and more delicious compared to other brands in the market.
Marketing: based on the CEO’s speech, the company marketing is built on the 4Ps marketing mix that consists of product, price, place and promotion.
Price: Kirisu’s milk and yogurt are sold at a very reasonable price, slightly lower than the market price. It costs only $4.20 for a 2L bottle of milk. The prices are subject to vary based on the store's selling price.
