II. Activities

The mini forum was conducted by CIBC members 7th generation under the theme called “Behind The Scenes”. To help smoothly facilitate the event, we had Ms. Ny Voraktepy and Ms. Phong Avichika. This event had been started as below:

  • National Anthem: We started the mini forum with the national anthem from 1:00 pm to 1:10 pm. Everyone got up, stood, and paid respect while the national anthem was played.
  • Opening Remark: Our event then proceeded with the opening remark by Mr. Casey Barnett from 1:10 pm to 1:20 pm, the president of CamEd Business School. He engaged with the audiences by conducting a Kahoot game with 3 critical thinking questions. The first question is “What is your life goal?”, the second is “What type of person can be successful?” and the last one is “Which trait is the most important to succeed?”.
  • Origin of CIBC: It was presented from 1:20 pm to 1:30 pm by Mrs. Ny Morokot who is a co-founder of CIBC. She started by asking the audience: “What do you think about the phrase ‘Behind the Scene’?”. Then, she told the story of how CIBC was created. In the beginning, she told the reasons to all the companies why she wanted to start CIBC, but they didn’t agree with her idea because they thought she didn’t have the ability to start the Club. However, she didn’t give up and went on to join the competition of the small world which call startup. But four speakers didn’t agree with her; only Sabay company gave her a chance. She was delighted when she heard the news. Nowadays, she is beyond contented that CIBC has been growing from one generation to another. Moreover, she emphasizes that CIBC is not only the place where we learn from this club, it is also the place where we can learn about the outside environment.
  • Speech by Ms. CHET KANHCHANA: From 1:30 pm to 2:10 pm, it is a presentation by Ms. Chet Kanhchana on the topic of Unexpected Twist( Something you start with doesn’t mean you end up with ). She said she just a little girl who follows her dream. She had finished a bachelor’s degree in Financial banking from national banking and the ministry of economic and financial. Moreover, she had studied English at IFL, but at last, she became a singer. While she was a college student, she wanted to become a banker and an English teacher. But from day to day, she was doing the same thing at the same time which makes her feel boring. In year three, her family had a big problem which cannot afford her. However, at this time, she starts to interesting in a singer and she just knew that she likes singing. So she learned to guitar at IFL and work in the pub part-time, but her family didn’t support her. When she finished year three in 2016, she started to do her first album with her friends by spent one and a half of the year, and on one album, she needed to spend 2 to 3 thousand dollars. But her fan had been increased more than she expected and she never gave up if there were no sponsors, fans and spent more time as well as more money. Last but not least, she said “life is a challenge, try your best to do with it and don’t be afraid.

Bong Norea has chosen to perform “Ask yourself”, “Ocean Eyes” and “Running”, which are all inspiring songs and perfectly fit with the theme of the event.
  • Speech by DR. QUACH MENG LY: The topic of the next presentation in the Twilight Zone( you are better than you think ) started from 2:45 pm to 3:25 pm by Dr. Quach Meng Ly. He said that in Cambodia, there were a lot of teenagers and youth people were growing. But everything they did wasn’t very well. This was because of a lack of role modal, supporter, encourager, etc, which not bright in the future. So it was unfortunately for them. Therefore, there was one thing that all general need to learn is education and no matter what, all this thing also happened from successful too. Moreover, he exampled ms. Kanhchana said what she learns from university became waste, but he said learning wasn’t waste because we had been listening to hundreds of professors, met thousands of friends, read thousands of books that we had been through a lot of things which make us become a person who knows everything. That’s why this person had become successful. However, because the economy had been growing very fast which still don’t have any human resources yet. So he hoped us that don’t do something fast because we had a lot of time, just enjoy what we have now and do what 99 percent of people were doing.
  • Q & A ( Panel Discussion ): In the blink of an eye, there arrived the panel discussion session from 3:25 pm to 4:00 pm. With his cheerfulness and understanding, our wonderful facilitator, Mr. Eam Sopheaktra has successfully delivered the questions from our online audiences as well as his own questions to both speakers. However, time is short, only several questions could be answered.
  • Lucky Draw: The mini forum ended with Lucky Draw to find the winners. The gifts prepared are Jansport Bag and Tumblers with names carved on the bottle surface. And the winner is Ms. Kun MengHun.

III. Conclusion

The Mini Forum is a very meaningful event for both the audiences and the club members. Through this, we are able to learn such sincere and important messages from the speakers which we do not normally get on usual occasions.
Last but not least, we are thankful that the event is a success. All this happened thanks to the blood, sweat, and tears that the Vice-presidents, Co-presidents, Project Chair, Leaders, and members from all departments have poured into altogether. We had been learned a lot from this event and won’t forget it.
