Field Trip : Terra Motors 25 April 2015

            Terra Motors is first established and created in February 2015 (Cambodia). According to Mr. Ly Sangleng, the chairman of Terra Motors, electric-usage motors were brought in to Cambodia because it provide high saving up to 90% rate compared to fuel motors.

The usage of Terra is mainly targeting general customers; therefore, there are different types of motors with different price range for a variety of customer’s need. Firstly, the S750 is suitable for elementary and high school students since there is no need for a driving license. Another type: the A2000 and A4000i scooters are applicable for college students and workers. Especially, the company plans to bring in the electric-usage 3 wheelers in replace for the usual 3 wheelers that we always seen in Phnom Penh nowadays. It is said that it will help 3 wheelers driver nowadays to spend less on fuel and earn more profit.

Mr. Ly Sangleng believes that Terra Motors will be able to compete with other fuel-usage motors is because it will become a trademark for the new generation since fuel is not stable for long term usage and there are excess amount of electricity (around 100 Megawatt per day at night) that already existed in our country.

 In order to advertising the Terra Motors to the public, they are planning to provide test try in many schools to allow the public to actually experience themselves and provide 1 year guarantee for equipment renewal service.

He also shared that in order to get the business approval license; the ministry of commerce will look at the profile finance (the experience of the company and distributors) and it is also important to describe clearly to them about the demand in the country. Furthermore, in order to franchise a successful business, it is compulsory for the distributors to be a good-quality company and it is specially based on two main factors: Trust and Connection/Network.
